needed to support a safety management system. Here we will consider the establishment
and maintenance of a systematic approach to OHS, the involvement of employees in
that process. Additionally, the role of incident investigation will be considered
as the potential for providing an opportunity to monitor and enhance the safe system
of work
Safety management is the formal process of establishing and maintaining an integrated
work system. Safety management elements include risk engineering, environmental
safety, quality and community needs.
To complete this ES eWorkbook select a workplace activity or task and demonstrate
your competency using the holistic approach to any safety related issues. In completing
this ES eWorkbook you must select a work based example that provides the opportunity
to demonstrate your competencies in a practical way. For example, your workplace
incident reports show an increase in the number of employees experiencing respiratory
disorders. Demonstrate how this safety issue can be properly addressed through the
application of the elements within these three Units. Your task is approached through
the investigation of related incidents this activity is conducted in consultation
with the work group affected.
